First of all I must thank you for the interview titled ‘Communism in this Day of Age’ (TMID, 29 March). Ms Francesca Vella did a very good job. However I must clarify some points that have not came out clearly in the above mentioned article.

First I must emphasise that the party’s offices belong solely to the Communist Party of Malta. If in some instances others were allowed to meet in these premises, they used it for the duration of their meeting only. The party has never shared with anyone or sublet these premises to any one

Secondly, the Communist Party of Malta has an executive and a central committee comprising of eight persons. This fact was not mentioned in the interview, perhaps because the question did not arise as I had cut the discussion short when membership numbers were discussed.

Lastly the Communist Party of Malta not only collaborates with ‘Die Linke’ but also with other left and Communist Parties who are represented in the European Parliament, among others, these include AKEL of Cyprus, the Portuguese Communist Party, the Communist Party of Greece and the Workers Party of Belgium.
