As part of its expansion strategy, the renowned furniture importer and manufacturer Domestica has embarked on a drive to invest in key human resources prior to the opening of a new, state-of-the-art showroom in Valley Road, B’Kara within the coming months.
Leo Vassallo Cesareo, who has been at the helm of the company ever since he founded it over 40 years ago, is handing over the reins to the second generation Vassallo Cesareos – Chris and Francesca will be taking the company forward as Managing Director and Business Development Director respectively. Ms Helga Ellul, the long-standing chief executive officer of Playmobil Malta, and president of the Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry, has been appointed to the board of directors.
A number of other appointments have also been made in the company’s management team, including that of Ms Natasha Farrugia, who has been appointed Sales and Marketing Manager, with direct responsibility for the new showroom complex.
With over 30 years of experience in the furniture industry, Simon Theuma has taken on the position of production manager within Domestica’s manufacturing arm.
“We are getting ready to take on a new wave of business. Domestica is investing significant amounts of money in a state-of-the-art showroom and in its human resource capital which will enable us to compete more aggressively in the market,” said Mr Chris Vassallo Cesareo, Managing Director of Domestica.
“Domestica will retain the core values that helped our company build the strong reputation and the loyal clientele that it has today. Domestica started out as a family business and as board members, both Chris and myself will continue building a business development strategy which relies on the strong family foundations that we rest on today,” said Francesca Cassar, Business Development Director for Domestica.
The Domestica brand portfolio now includes Casamia furniture, Steelcase office furniture, Fatboy and Guzzini accessories, Wanabo, Indel B wine cellars and Kartell.
