Vandalism In Paceville

Malta Independent Thursday, 13 May 2010, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Your front page of TMID on Tuesday 11 May is the only truth I have heard from the St Julian’s local council since its inception way back in 1993.

What beats me is that, together with other residents, I have been complaining about the situation in Paceville, which incidentally is in full reverse mode as far as law and order is concerned, to ministers as well as the last two police commissioners for a big number of years. We have been complaining even before the local councils were thought of. Where was the local council during all these years of complaints? Could it be that the council has been pulling a Rip Van Winkle?

The St Julian’s local council mayor was present at two of the meetings that we had at the Sliema police station during the summer of 2004, where for the umpteenth time we were complaining about the complete lack of law and order in our residential area. Did he back the representatives of the residents? During one of those meetings the mayor promised me and my friends a list of things that have been done by the council for the residential area of Paceville. We are to date still awaiting that list. However I can assure your readers that such a list does not exist.

What, may I ask, prompted the mayor to comment about Paceville on the eve of the formation of an Administrative Committee for the hamlet of Paceville?
