The EU Today

Malta Independent Thursday, 20 May 2010, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Before the EU referendum, on 27 August, 2000 I published a letter in a Maltese paper, and I am to translate a part of it that suits the present state of the EU. This is what I wrote: “I cannot understand why Europe wants to be united under one law that does not suit all the other states of Europe. There already exists a union of states that have been there for more than two centuries and are doing very well. But these states have laws that suit each individual state, but have a general common law.”

For example, there are states that have the death penalty while others don’t have it.

Why is it that Europe does not follow this example from a union that has 52 different states and has been going strong for more than 200 years?

What is suitable for Germany is not good for France or for the UK or Italy.

A good commentator on Europe mentioned this difficulty that is hindering Europe. The USA also follows God with its motto, “In God We Trust”.

Europe has even abandoned God and declared itself atheist. Europe is reaping what she has sown. It is being destroyed from above. The clouds of ash and lightning and who knows what more is coming to the EU.

It is reaping what it has sown.
