Malta lost all its five matches, including the opening four in the qualifying pool, to finish 10th and last in the tournament held in Paphos, Greece, the past weekend.
Was was drawn in Pool B alongside Portugal, Georgia, Croatia and Serbia, but failed to register a victory, ending bottom of the group.
They lost to Portugal – the eventual winners – 59-0, against Georgia 56-0, against Croatia 43-5 and against Serbia 24-19.
In the Bowl final (places 9 and 10), Malta lost heavily to Greece 40-0.
Portugal won the final against France 31-7. Georgia finished third after beating Israel 33-7.
Cyprus was fifth, Germany sixth, Croatia seventh and Serbia eighth.
