Last April, Marsovin won a silver medal for its Estate wine, Marnisi 2007, at the Challenge International du Vin held in Bourg and Blaye, just outside Bordeaux.

Marnisi 2007 is produced from the Marnisi Estate in Marsaxlokk; this vintage was the first Maltese Rizerva ever produced.

The Challenge International du Vin is a prestigious competition Marsovin competes in from time to time. This year, Marnisi was entered into a category of wines priced between €5 to €12. Marsovin previously won a gold medal in the Challenge International du Vin with their Antonin Blanc.

Marsovin director, Jeremy Cassar, commented, “We are particularly proud of this result, since this wine competed against other premium wines and fared very well. What more, being the first Maltese Rizerva it has a significant meaning to us as winemakers, as the real significance of this award is one of acknowledgement. Marsovin knows that it produces high quality wines, yet some Maltese consumers are still apprehensive about Maltese wines. Professional wine tasters in France felt that the quality of this wine was worth a silver medal. This acknowledgement should help convince certain Maltese consumers about the quality of our wines.”

This is the second medal Marsovin has won in the past six months; the first was its Antonin red, which was awarded a gold medal in Italy.
