Beechcraft King Air B200 Modified for Maltese border patrol missions

Malta Independent Wednesday, 21 July 2010, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Hawker Beechcraft Corporation yesterday announced the sale of a Beechcraft King Air B200 turboprop to Aerodata AG of Braunschweig, Germany, for its modification and ultimate delivery to the Armed Forces of Malta for use in maritime border patrol missions.

Aerodata modifications will incorporate search radar, electro-optical/infrared sensors and other mission equipment for Malta.

The aircraft is scheduled for delivery to the Maltese government in early 2011, with an additional order pending for a second aircraft.

“The King Air B200 is well suited for this maritime surveillance mission because its range and payload allow it to remain on station for long periods,” said Ted Farid, HBC senior vice president, International Sales. “HBC and Aerodata have collaborated on the successful modification of numerous King Air B200 aircraft for similar missions dating back many years.”
