Ilir Shaqiri and Anbeta Toromani, widely known as resident dancers and choreographers of the popular television programme Amici on the Italian channel Canale 5, will be in Malta between 8 and 13 September of this year to give a dance course in jazz dance and classical ballet.
The two dancers, of Albanian origin, are going to be assisted by Desi Shaqiri, who happens to be Ilir’s mother and who, for years, trained both Ilir and Anbeta as well as other famous dancers such as Kledi and Leon Cino in Albania. Desi was the principal dancer with the Bolshoi in Tirana. Currently Anbeta is the principal dancer of the television channel on which Amici is broadcasted. Ilir, on the other hand, has his own dance academy L’Etolie in Rome. The popularity of the two dancers spiraled since they themselves competed on the said programme in 2003 with other dancers like Kledi and Jose Perez.
The dance course is being organised by the College Of Jazz Dance, home of the Yada Dance Company, at their premises in San Gwann. It is open to dancers from the age of seven to thirty five. There are limited places, so early booking is recommended. At the end of the course, three scholarships are going to be awarded. The winners of the scholarship will have the possibility to attend a dance workshop at Ilir’s Dance Academy in Rome in December of this year.
