Triq il-Mensija, St Julian’s is one road where there are parking limitations for non-residents. They are allowed 150 minutes of parking starting from 5pm.
A traffic warden goes issuing tickets a few minutes after five o’clock, knowing quite well that non-residents are entitled to park up till half-past seven. This is gross provocation that is irritating many law-abiding citizens who have to waste half a day to attend traffic tribunals. Notwithstanding repeated efforts to talk sense to the St Julian’s local council this abuse persists. A typical example is the umpteenth ticket that was given just 15 minutes after five when one is entitled to park for two-and-a-half hours.
What can one do to satisfy the greed of this particular council that nets one of the highest amount of traffic fines in Malta. These are hard times when taxes and rates for amenities are already a heavy burden on one and all.
