The Epitome of hypocrisy

Malta Independent Wednesday, 1 September 2010, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

To all those self-proclaimed fervent Catholics, who cite the Bible and say they follow the official teachings of the Catholic Church, with regards to the divorce issue, I would like to point out that the same Catholic Church does not allow the use of contraceptives.

But lo and behold, Most couples only have one or two children, contrary to some 60 years ago, when contraception was unheard of, and most couples had a minimum of eight offsprings!

Please don’t mention the so-called natural methods (temperature, rhythm) because according to the church’s teaching, a married couple could only copulate with the intention of procreation. And to add insult to injury, the Church is once again (as shamefully happened in 1962) using the fear of mortal sin to bend the will of the minds of those who are naïve enough to comply, while most politicians are afraid of losing votes and are trying hard to put the issue on hold.

If that is not the epitome of hypocrisy, I don’t know what is. Shame!!
