Ever since its arrival in Malta just over two years ago, Lidl’s primary goal has been that of getting close to its customers, providing excellent customer service with a focus on meeting the customer’s individual needs. In line with its commitment to continuous service improvement, Lidl has carried out a major refurbishment of its five stores in Malta. Consequently, the stores now enjoy a completely new look. The new layout, which now includes a beauty section, provides customers with a more welcoming environment and a wider range of products than ever before.
Lidl Malta kept its customers in mind when doing the refurbishment, changing the layout to suit the Maltese consumer and the Maltese shopping habits and emphasising that it is local. Thanks to its modern lighting systems, the new design of the outlets has proven to be particularly eye-catching. Not only does it emphasise the value of the products but it also provides a brighter shopping environment.
Significant changes include the more convenient fruit and vegetable layout, which is now presented at hip-height. All fresh areas, one of the main competences of Lidl Malta, are now highlighted by spotlights. Freezer space has now been increased by 20 per cent. Another important new feature is the introduction of beauty sections in the stores which will house all Lidl personal care and hygiene products. The new areas dedicated to cosmetics will house the entire Cien product line, including shampoos, shower gels and soaps, the Beauty Iseree line with face creams, tonics, cleansing milks and many other skin care products, as well as the G. Bellini line for men, comprising shaving creams, razors and aftershaves.
The renovation was carried out during the stores’ closing hours, thus ensuring their uninterrupted operation and continuous customer service.
By means of this refurbishment project, Lidl, which in a few years has become the number one discount supermarket chain in Malta, has demonstrated its ability to change while achieving steady growth both in terms of sales activity as well as in the number of employees, which increased by over 30 staff members since April 2010 to a total of over 130.
