The four highest scorers of the Tommy Hilfiger Golf Tournament at the Royal Malta Golf Club have returned from Copenhagen where they took part in a golfing clinic with pro player Nick Dougherty.

Speaking on their return, Jonathan Shaw, managing director of Tommy Hilfiger in Malta said: “Golf and Tommy Hilfiger are closely associated and we try to follow through on the brand’s image overseas by supporting local events and players.”

The four winners, Maria Woodward, Debbie Jackson, Frans Busuttil and Quint Van Beek, all travelled to Denmark where they spent four days touring the capital city, playing on the renowned Simon’s Golf Course and, of course, relishing time spent with Mr Dougherty. The trip went very successfully and all the participants had a wonderful time.

“I enter numerous competitions,” explains Debbie Jackson, who was the runner-up in the women’s category. “But the Tommy Hilfiger tournament is particularly good because the sponsors make sure the competition is really memorable for everyone that competes.

“It is definitely one of the highlights of the Royal Malta Golf Club’s calendar, as you only have to look at the number of people who entered to realise how popular it is!”

With regards to the trip, all four of the winners were thrilled to have had the opportunity to meet Mr Dougherty.

“He gave us all a demonstration on how to correct a number of common amateur mistakes, and showed us how to chip and play percentage shots around the green,” explains Maria Woodward, who won the Ladies’ Title. “It was all very instructive and entertaining, and it was very nice to chat to him. I was very pleased with the insight that he was able to offer; it was a real experience.

“Our group then took part in a tournament. This was another highlight as the chance to compete abroad is rare for us. Everything about the event was absolutely brilliant, and we are extremely grateful to have been given this opportunity by the local representatives of Tommy Hilfiger in Malta.”
