Moto GP: Pedrosa Leads Aragon GP practice

Malta Independent Saturday, 18 September 2010, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Dani Pedrosa led free practice for the inaugural Aragon Grand Prix yesterday.

Pedrosa, who just signed a two-year extension with Honda, set a fastest lap of 1 minute, 50.506 seconds around the Motorland Aragon circuit, which replaced the Hungarian GP this season.

Nicky Hayden was second fastest ahead of overall leader Jorge Lorenzo of Yamaha, who had a best lap of 1:50.928.

Casey Stoner led Lorenzo in a wet afternoon practice but he was still 11 seconds slower than Pedrosa, who has won the last two races to trail fellow Spanish rider Lorenzo by 63 points in the overall standings.

This is the first race since the Italian GP, when Moto2 rider Shoya Tomizawa was killed when he fell and was hit by two trailing bikes.
