Waterpolo: Malta Taking part in U-19 tournament

The ASA National Under 19 Team will be participating in the Mediterrean (Comen) Under 19 Waterpolo tournament being held in Larnaca on 24 and 25 September. The group is to leave Malta on Wednesday in the afternoon.

The national Under 19 team is made up of Ryan Sciortino, David Abela, Michael Spiteri Staines, Michael Cordina, Christian Cluett, Jean Claude Cutajar, Gabrielle Pace, Jordan Camilleri, Benjamin Lanzon, Zachary Mizzi, Kai Dowling and Dino Zammit. Alex Attard had to withdraw due to a shoulder injury. A replacement is being sought.

The team shall be accompanied by the coach Anthony Farrugia and team doctor Stefan Camilleri and Chef de Mission Edgar Izzo, the ASA Treasurer.

The other participating Mediterranean countries are Italy, who just been crown European Champions in their category in Stockholm, Greece, Cyprus and Egypt.

The Maltese international referee Alex De Raffaele has been chosen to accompany the ASA team and to officiate games during the said tournament.
