In an endeavour to promote and attract more boys and girls form the southern part of our Island to take up Table Tennis seriously, the directors of TTN, presently located at the Theresa Spinelli Sports Complex Tal-Qroqq, which has been operating successfully from 2008, decided to open a second centre at the new state of the art Immaculate Conception Sports Complex in Tarxien (picture). The inauguration session will take place next month.
TTN directors believe that a lot of potential talent is out there. Thanks to this new centre they are making it simpler for children from the south end of the Island to have access to professional coaching in a professional surrounding with the opportunity to form part of a larger organisation.
Table Tennis Nursery lives by its mission statement “learn to play the elite way.” In a short statement, David Pace told us that the Immaculate Conception Complex will be run on the same lines as the Theresa Spinelli Centre.
Future students attending the Table Tennis Nursery either at Tal-Qroqq or Tarxien may look forward to developing the basic bat and ball skills, developing basic strokes, developing advanced strokes, physical fitness, mental strength, tournaments, training with Donic robot - workshops and making new friends and a lot of fun!
As is customary, parents too get their dose of Table Tennis and have the opportunity to show off their skills during the parents Easter and Christmas tournament.
At this year’s edition of the local championships TTN students Adam Zouari and Jessica Pace were crowned the local champions in the boys U-15 and girls U-15 category.
Throughout the season other TTN students achieved prestigious results on a national level. David Grima won an U-15 ranking plate event, Christian Degorgio won an U-13 plate event, Daniel Said was finalist in no less than three U-13 tournaments, Matthew Cassar in his debut reached the U-15 plate final, Michaela Scerri placed 4th in the U-15 Girls and Elena Pocock put on a good performance at her first girls U-13 competition while Raul Fenech, Jurgen Sammut, Bernard Cutajar and Sacha Pace also had a promising season.
