Special Olympics: Excellent Results for Maltese athletes in the Warsaw Games

Maltese athletes taking part in the Special Olympic Games in Warsaw, Poland, have registered some excellent results so far.

These consist of four gold, four silver and another four bronze medals.

The gold medals have been won by Maria Spiteri, Angele Azzopardi and Maria Spiteri (doubles) in bowling, Ismail Falzon and Michael Calleja in athletics.

The silver medals were won by Sara Caruana, Claudio Dalli and Ruth Galea in athletics, while the bronze medals were also obtained in athletics by Ismael Falzon and Michael Calleja, as well as Marika Rogers, and Albert Borg and Ben Caruana (doubles) in bowling.

A good number of 1,500 athletes from 58 nations are taking part in the event which comes to an end today with the closing ceremony this evening.

The Maltese contingent is expected back home tomorrow evening.
