Zejtun and Mqabba shared the points from a 2-2 draw.

After a balanced first period, Mqabba enjoyed the lion’s share of the exchanges after the resumption. The game was played at a fast pace and both teams had their good moments.

Zejtun were first to threaten. Bennet Schembri served Luca Camilleri on the right flank and the ball was cleared to a corner from his cross. Josef Bonnici served Margeith Scicluna in the area but Mqabba keeper Brandon Debono had no difficulty to save his weak shot.

Radnor Farrugia then served Schembri with a short free kick and Debono saved his effort from outside the area.

Mqabba reacted by creating two actions in a row. Larken Farrugia was fouled on the right flank and Zejtun keeper Daniel Vella was forced to palm the ball away to safety following the free kick by Kurt Falzon.

Jerome Vella then served Andrea Farrugia in the area and after Vella partly saved his shot, the ball was cleared by a defender.

At the other end, moments later, Jurgen Abela was fouled on the left edge of the area. The free kick was taken by Josvel Spiteri and Debono had to dive full length to turn the ball to a corner.

Mqabba reacted. Falzon served Andrea Farrugia who missed the upright with his shot. Falzon, after beating a defender, served Andrea Farrugia with a through ball and Vella was forced to come out of his charge to kick the ball upfield.

Zejtun took the lead just before the half time whistle. Luca Camilleri served Schembri on the right flank who, after advancing, lobbed the ball in the area and Mqabba defender Mattia Mentosa had the misfortune of deflecting the ball into his own net .

In the first action after the restart Mqabba keeper Brandon Vella saved a close-range shot by Scicluna after he was put through by Spiteri.

Mqabba regained the initiative and from a well-taken flag kick by Kevin Psaila the ball hit the bar with Vella beaten.

Andrea Farrugia then served Dylan Briffa in the area and a defender cleared his shot to a corner.

The score became one-all in the 47th minute when Mentosa served Alan Sacco with a through ball in the area and as Zejtun defender Karl Attard handled the ball, Mqabba keeper Daniel Vella converted the resultant penalty.

Zejtun reestablished their one-goal lead in the 67th minute when substitute Sean Parnis served Spiteri with a through ball and as Debono came out of his charge he scored with a lobbed ball from the edge of the area.

In the 72nd minute Mqabba equalised when Dylan Briffa served Sacco with a through ball and as he was fouled just outside the area. Omar Farrugia scored from the resultant free kick.
