Hibernians coach Mark Miller was hugely disappointed by his side’s defeat against Birkirkara but happy with his boys’ performance.

In his aftermatch comments, he praised his players for the way they fought for every ball, played good football and created chances.

“We could have scored four or even five, but we did not,” said a reflective Mark Miller.

“Birkirkara had fewer chances but scored more than us. That’s football,” said the Hibernians coach.

Miller had words of praise also for his four foreign players recruited this season after he personally went to England and Scotland to pick on them. He said that the choice could have always been for better foreigners but according to him, all of them have performed well so far.

Asked by The Malta Indpendent how does he gauge his team this season after the first three matches when Hibernians have already played Floriana, Valletta and Birkirkara, Miller thinks that the side is as good, if not better, than the one which won the Championship two seasons ago.

Since the Hibernians squad is not all made up of experienced players, the coach’s biggest dilemma is whether to stick to the experienced players or else give the youngsters more chances and opportunities. At the moment Miller has opted for the first choice and Hibernians looked better at times than all their three opponents they met so far, despite winning only once.

“If we continue playing this way, I think that we can challenge,” said a determined Miller but he doubts whether his side can maintain this same momentum for so long.

One thing, however, he is hundred per cent sure about – he will never change the attacking game Hibernians play.
