Naxxar-Zejtun 0-1

Zejtun opened the season with a very important victory over promotion rivals Naxxar infront of a numerous Zejtun crowd in a match were a draw would have been a fairer result.

Naxxar went close early on through a shot from Gilbert Camilleri saved by Ranier Farrugia. In the 22nd minute Zejtun had a good opportunity thanks to a Kenneth Abela header which was neutralised by Bjorn Attard.

Naxxar replied in the 35th minute thanks to a header from Matthew Spiteri Gonzi which was saved by Zejtun keeper Ranier Farrugia.

In the 44th minute, Zejtun missed a good opportunity when Kenneth Abela failed to capitalise from close range.

Zejtun opened the score just three minutes after the break thanks to a shot from Silvio Sciberras.

Zejtun kept the initiative as they went close twice through efforts from Adrian Carabott and Ryan Cauchi.

Naxxar went close to an equaliser in the 81st minute through a header from close range from Andrei Rocha Da Silva which went wide.

Zurrieq-Mellieha 2-3

In their first match of the season, Mellieha obtained a convincing victory over Zurrieq in a match in which they were always the better side.

Zurrieq went close early on through an effort from Klinsmann Grech neutralised by Simon Gauci. In the 10th minute, Mellieha went close from a direct corner kick by Fabiano Bassi which was saved by Julian Azzopardi.

Mellieha scored in the 25th minute thanks to a close range shot from Philip Taylor after taking advantage from a defensive indecision.

Mellieha doubled their lead in the 28th minute from an Isaac Sammut header off a Steve Azzopardi cross.

Zurrieq replied in the 40th minute with a shot from Steve Azzopardi saved by Simon Gauci. In the 58th minute, Zurrieq reduced the score thanks to a deflected shot by Ray Attard.

Mellieha replied in the 69th minute when they scored again through Daniel Cremona off a Rosen Filipov cross.

Mellieha maintained the initiative as they went close again in the 79th minute through an effort from Matthew Borg saved by Julian Azzopardi.

In the 90th minute Zurrieq hit the crossbar through a Daniel Zammit header while in the 93rd minute they reduced the score through a shot from Jeffery Camilleri.
