An injury time goal scored by substitute James Shead gave Mqabba their consecutive victory yesterday over St Andrew’s in a boring match.

This win practically puts Mqabba in the semi final stages of the competition. Mqabba played better in the second half and were denied by two great saves by Ibrahimovic. Howevere St Andrew’s did not deserve to leave the field empty handed even though they never set any houses on fire. They were the better team in the first half but the crossbar denied them in the opening minutes.

The first half was a real boring affair with practically no shots at goal apart from a Jack Pallen scorcher that slammed against the crossbar after only four minutes play. St Andrew’s enjoyed territorial superiority but lacked the necessary punch.

In the second half Mqabba started on a better note with Shaun Magro failing to connect to a good Valenzia cross, and on 53 minutes Shaun Magro dribbled his way inside the box but his effort was brilliantly saved by Ibrahim.

On 70 minutes another good move by Mqabba with substitute Iro Curmi crossing towards Mazitelli whose precise grounder was saved by Ibrahim. Mqabba lost Mazitelli who appears to have suffered a serious injury, but his substitute James Shead proved to be Mqabba’s winning trump when in stoppage time he nipped for a long ball inside the opposing penalty area to beat Ibrahim with a precise grounder.
