There were more disappointing results for Maltese athletes taking part in the Delhi Games yesterday.

In women’s shooting, Rebecca Madyson and Kate Cassar could only finish eighth from among nine pairs in the women’s pairs competition.

Madyson, scored two rounds of 22 each, while Cassar had disastrous rounds of 16 and 19, bringing the Malta pairs team total to just 79.

In the men’s pairs competition, there was some indirect consolation for Maltese sports enthusiasts because Adam Vella, a shooter of Maltese origin, but who represents Australia, won the gold medal in Double Trap. His team-mate was Michael Diamond.

In Lawn Bowls, the men’s triples team suffered two defeats.

First they went down 2-0 against South Africa (5-12, 5-14). Later they succumbed to Brunei by 0.5 to 1.5 (8-8, 6-8).
