Last Saturday saw the start of the APS Bank Cup with all the female teams in action and with La Salle Trendi and Kavallieri RS2 coming into action from the men teams.
In the first game from the female section, Aloysians Zmerc beat a depleted Kavallieri RS2 side 25-9. Kavallieri was made up of newcomers to the game and Aloysians Zmerc did minimal effort to win the game.
RS2 must be given all the support and encouragement to improve and credit must go to the effort RS2 put in the game. From the other female game, Luxol Starbene surprised La Salle ZT Development to an 11-11 draw.
La Salle’s disappointment was clearly visible after winning the Super Cup and the draw came as a surprise. Nevertheless Luxol’s showed a huge improvement from last year and things look good for them.
In the men’s APS Cup, La Salle Trendi beat Kavallieri RS2 23-14. It was a good fast paced game by La Salle and tactically they were well imposed on court.
Kavallieri RS2 did their best to keep a respectable score but during the game Kavallieri showed some good handball and on their day they can beat anyone. From the repeat of the previous week’s Super Cup, Aloysians Von Taine beat Luxol by a goal in the last seconds. Aloysians improved on their Cup performance but Luxol made a lot of mistakes that cost them the game.
Next week La Salle ZT Development will face Kavallieri RS2 and Aloysians Zmerc will take Luxol Starbene from the female games. In men’s games, La Salle Trendi will play Luxol and Phoenix will face Kavallieri RS2. The games start at 12.30pm and the venue is the University Sports Hall
