Wednesday, 1.15pm.
A huge traffic jam started just outside the tunnels closest to Paceville, on the way towards Msida, right until the Kappara roundabout.
On the other side, the traffic jam started just outside the Santa Venera roundabout, again right until the Kappara roundabout.
The reason?
There was a minor collision at the Kappara roundabout, involving a van and a car. No injuries, and only minor damage caused to the vehicles.
The wardens were called. One of the vehicles was left to block the road leading from the roundabout down to the lower part of Sliema Road leading to Gzira while the wardens were taking the particulars of the drivers involved. They did not seem to be in a hurry.
Yet, their action – or should I say inaction – meant so many wasted minutes for the drivers caught up in the traffic jams in both direction, not to mention the money spent in fuel and the extra damage to the environment.
All this because two wardens did not do what they should have done.
When are they going to learn?
