My wife and I decided to pay a visit to the Malta Military Tattoo on Saturday 9 October. We did not take into account how hopeless the organisers were in getting things right. I phoned them on 7 October and was assured the tickets would be available at the entrance. I explained that my wife was wheelchair-dependant. Our driver did not know that the entrance had been changed. I am a 90-year-old Normandy veteran, my wife is 87. I had to push her along the whole length of the building to the new entrance, about a mile through pools of water. At the entrance no tickets for us had been left; when we got one, we were placed in seat no. 63, right up the stairs at the back. How could I get a wheelchair up there? From what we saw of the military tattoo it was a very good spectacle, but the organisation was very poor.
