Qrendi-St Venera L 1-2

Early on Qrendi were close through a Johan Scicluna free-kick which was saved by Roderick Spiteri and on another occasion Christian Caruana shot just wide.

Gradually the Lightnings gained the initiative and after going close through Jeffrey Zammit, they managed to take a deserved lea on 15 minutes through an angled shot by Dylan Mercieca.

St Venera were then denied by Neville Ciantar off a shot by Mark Grech with Qrendi responding through another free-kick taken by Johan Scicluna which was saved by the St Venera custodian.

At the other end St Venera missed a clear opportunity through Dalton Wingfield and just before the break the same striker had a close-range shot which was blocked by Ciantar.

Qrendi played the better football after the break and they drew level in the 50th minute through an angled shot by Jonathan Galea.

Qrendi were then again close through Chris Farrugia with the Lightnings responding through a Jeffrey Zammit free-kick which finished just wide and an attempt by Mark Grech which hit the crossbar.

Qrendi were then twice denied by Spiteri off efforts by Aaron Pendry but seven minutes from time St Venera got the winning goal through Mark Grech.

In added time Qrendi’s captain Aaron Pendry was sent off for making unwarranted remarks to the referee.

St Lucia-Siggiewi 0-3

After just six minutes Siggiewi were denied by Duane Carabott off a shot by Kim Buhagiar with the Saints coming back through Chris Camilleri whose long-range effort was saved by Roderick Vella.

In the 18th minute St Lucia were given a penalty for a foul on Andrew Sciortino but Emanuel Cutajar’s shot from the spot finished just wide.

At the other end Siggiewi were denied by Carabott off a Jason Camilleri crosshot with the Saints having a Brian Chetcuti direct free-kick which just missed the target.

Just before the break Siggiewi were denied by Carabott off an overhead kick by Mark Camilleri following good work by Melvin Agius.

Three minutes after the restart St Lucia were reduced to ten players after Liam Cutajar was sent off for unwarranted remarks.

Siggiewi tried to take advantage of the prevailing situation and pushed forward, twice going close through Jason Camilleri and Josef Vassallo.

In the 65th minute a header by Mark Camilleri was saved by Carabott but Siggiewi managed to score in the 73rd minute through an excellent shot by Jason Camilleri.

In the 87th minute Jason Camilleri got his second goal and a minute from time Siggiewi added a third goal through Mark Camilleri.

Siggiewi are now sole leaders with maximum points from three matches.
