Rainy Days

Malta Independent Wednesday, 20 October 2010, 00:00 Last update: about 17 years ago

Why is it that in Malta, every time there is a little bit of rain, the whole island grinds to a halt. The other day, there was quite a heavy downpour, and what is normally a 15-minute journey to work took 45.

While it is understandable that motorists exercise more care, one cannot understand how and why each and every junction is completely gridlocked. Just getting across a roundabout is a nightmare.

Perhaps if we surfaced the roads properly and built them with a proper camber, we would not have motorists swerving from one side to another in attempts to avoid driving through lakes.
