Xlendi Resort Upgrades Gozo tourism

Malta Independent Sunday, 24 October 2010, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Gozo, a jewel destination which usually suffers from lack of visiotrs during winter, will, in the coming months, see the inauguration of a brand new tourism offering. Thanks to the vision and determination of the new management team at the Hotel Xlendi Resort & Spa, Gozo will soon be able to market a new year-round attraction for visitors in special interest segments like health and social tourism.

The project began over a year ago, when the hotel was taken over by the new management. The team was determined to upgrade the standards and amenities at the Hotel Xlendi Resort & Spa while catering for specialized markets including health and wellness, as well as medical facilities and services on a 24/7 basis.

Tony Coleiro, Hospitality & Tourism Consultant to the management team, said that the new formula will see substantial refurbishing and upgrading throughout the property, but more than that it will have a resident medical practitioner, to cater for the health needs of guests with health issues, or simply provide peace of mind to residents with post operative or chronic conditions. Qualified health care therapists will also form part of the medical team for physiotherapy and other treatments.

The Spa offers a range of amenities and services like massage, sauna, fully equipped gym and health and beauty centre, for health conscious individuals who like to work out or simply enjoy being pampered during their stay.

All new lifts and utilities have been planned to facilitate wheelchair or disabled accessibility to all areas. In addition a new panoramic lift has been installed which enjoys breathtaking aerial views of the bay and cliffs beyond.

The Hotel Xlendi Resort & Spa is also undergoing a radical evolution in its corporate identity, with a new brand image, website, brochures and marketing tools which are an integral part of a strategic marketing philosophy in line with the vision of the management team for the future.

The company’s substantial investment in the overall upgrading of the Hotel has been supplemented by funding from an ERDF scheme made available through EU funding programmes for tourism. This also includes the complete upgrading of ICT systems and technologies, safety equipment and installations.

The all new Hotel Xlendi Resort & Spa is now nearing completion and is expected to announce a date for the official inauguration in the coming months.
