Gozo’s bishop, Mgr Mario Grech never lets an opportunity slip without delivering an instructive and enlightening message.

This was no less the case at the blessing of the refurbished APS branch in Victoria. One of the points he raised was that this small bank is the only one in Malta that belongs to the Federation of European Ethical Banks. A point which seems to have escaped several investigative journalists who are normally quick to pick up leads.

At a time when the issuance of bonds and offers of financial services are in turmoil, I find it strange that other local banks have not subscribed to a suitable code of ethics such as that of this European federation to put their depositors and shareholders minds at rest.
