With only two games in programme, people might have thought that it was not worth the trip, but the drama ran really high in both games played.

The first game saw La Salle Trendi facing newly formed club Phoenix. In the first half, Phoenix dominated La Salle and showed that the players’ experience with former clubs was a vital one.

One surely did not expect such a performance from Phoenix, keeping in mind they still have two important wingers like Matthew Delicata and Neville Borg out. They are surely first seven players.

With a 9-4 advantage, Phoenix lacked a bit in concentration scoring only three goals in the second half. This came also thanks to the great performance of Andrew Mifsud in goal and decisions made by coach Lotta Malmberg who proved fruitful to La Salle’s 13-12 final win.

In the second game Kavallieri RS2 almost surprised Aloysians Von Taine. The game was tied for most of the time and it was only in the last moments that Aloysians managed to widen the gap.

Alex di Pilato had a great game scoring 13 goals against his former club. Aloysians seemed to be unaware of the dangers ahead and they were somewhat lucky to arrange the danger they put themselves into.

This game surely gives a boost to Kavalleiri who should look forward to future encounters.

Next weekend sees the final round of the APS Cup for the ladies with the important match between Aloysians Zmerc and La Salle ZT Developments at 12.30pm, followed by Luxol Starbene and Kavallieri RS2 at 2pm.

There will also be some important men’s matches. Archrivals La Salle Trendi and Aloysians Von Taine will be played at 3.30pm and Luxol face Phoenix at 5pm. On Sunday the women Promotion League starts with Kavallieri RS2 against St Benedict and La Salle Caccu against Luxol at 2pm.
