New General manager for Khartoum hotel

Corinthia Hotels announces the appointment of seasoned hotelier Christopher H. Newberry (pictured) as general manager of its first five-star hotel in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum, The Corinthia Hotel Khartoum, also known as the Burj Al Fateh.

Mr Newberry is a highly regarded veteran of the international hotel industry and has to date enjoyed a distinguished and successful career as a general manager and senior executive within the hospitality sector. From an early career with Hilton International as executive assistant manager of the London Hilton on Park Lane, Christopher was promoted to the positions of general manager of the Madagascar Hilton and then moved on to the opening of the Yaoundé Hilton in the Cameroon in a similar position.

As one of the first general managers for Disney, Christopher was highly successful in the early days of the famous Paris theme park and then joined Kempinski, where he was general manager of hotels in Bombay and Beijing. In the latter, he also ran the Crowne Plaza and later the Crowne Plaza in Jinan. After a short period of time in a private enterprise Chris joined the Aga Khan Development Network as general manager of their property in Kabul, the Serena Hotel. Christopher’s latest position before joining Corinthia Hotels was that of general manager of The Leela Kempinski in Mumbai, India.
