Melita obtained their first victory of the season beating Msida with four clear goals. Melita were the dominant force throughout the whole match, even though the match was rather boring for long spells.

Msida had nothing to offer and Melita had no worries whatsoever especially after forging ahead after 15 minutes. Msida have great limitations especially in attack where they still have to score their first goal after six official matches between the KO competition and the championship.

Melita took the lead on 15 minutes when central defender George Gribbon headed home a Maxime Batel corner. Msida’s reaction was a feeble one indeed and went only close through an Andrea Formosa overhead kick.

Two minutes before the break Melita doubled the score when Kane Micallef passed towards Matthew Borg who in turn passed towards Maxime Batel who made no mistake with a precise grounder.

The second half was less intense, pathetic at times, with Melita in full control of the match and with Msida showing no signs of motivation to get back in the match.

However Melita had to wait till the very final minutes of the match to make the victory an emphatic one. On 88 minutes, Julian Galea, one of the best yesterday, fired low into the net to make it three on 88 minutes, and a minute later it was Matthew Borg’s turn to add his name to the scorers’ list when he rifled home from close range Melita’s fourth and final goal.
