The U*BET FA Trophy, the second most important competition in local football, kicks off this evening with the only Preliminary Round match of the competition between First Division sides Pieta Hotspur and Msida St Joseph. The winners of this match will face Hibernians in the first round over the weekend.

Pieta will start as favourites against Msida, even though both sides failed to impress much in the opening matches. Both sides suffered defeats last weekend, with Pieta beaten by in-form Mqabba, whilst Msida were heavily beaten 4-0 by Melita.

Pieta are still with a chance to qualify for the semi final stages of the KO competition as they still have to play against Dingli Swallows in a decisive match. The Blues showed better stuff so far as Msida are still in search of their first goal after four Knock Out matches and two league encounters.

The match will be played at The Centenary Stadium, kick-off 7.30pm.
