In this day and age why are residents' basic needs neglected? Arrogance, ignorance, spite, mis-management? Our Sliema local council’s attention has already been drawn in different ways and means to the disgraceful situation the residents of Qui-si-sana, between Hughes Hallett Street and Locker Street have been in for a good number of days. These residents have been left in complete street-darkness for far too long for this state of affairs to be left ignored by both the local council and the minister responsible for overseeing the work taking place in this section of Sliema.

Why bother to knock at the door of the Sliema local council, when we all know that the present team is completely dormant on this serious problem!? Cannot these people, all in responsible positions, understand that it is very dangerous for everyone, but in particular for those residing in that particular area, to have no light in the street?

It’s complete darkness! A temporary light was installed after so many complaints, but is this enough?

Some of the residences have already attracted the attention of unwanted guests! Need one say more? Prevention, with one's help, is better than cure, is it not!? But where is this help to come from? Where are the parliamentarians who seek these same peoples' understanding at election time?

Through the influential newspaper which The Malta Independent is renowned to be, may we plead to all those concerned to have more lighting installed immediately between Hughes Hallett and Locker Streets in Qui-si-sana. Please!
