Veteran striker Ivan Woods was a protagonist yesterday as Floriana scored an easy 3-0 win over first division Lija Athletic to qualify for the second round.

The Greens returned to winning form after their 2-0 defeat at the hands of Tarxien Rainbows in the Premier League.

Floriana took command of midfield mainly thanks to Pablo Doffo and Christian Cassar, both returning to the starting line-up.

Woods scored his first goal on seven minutes after receiving from Cassar. Despite their domination they failed to add more goals to their tally.

It was in the 71st minute that they scored a second which practically assured them of their qualification, and what a goal it was! It was Woods who scored with a beauty of a shot from a freekick.

And nine minutes from time, it was Clyde Borg who sealed their win with a low shot after receiving a cross from Micallef.
