Malta Independent Wednesday, 17 November 2010, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

The ASA is presently without a president and a secretary.

After the resignation of Dr Austin Sammut from the presidency, the association’s council has now voted to throw out secretary Remy D’Amato. In fact, the latter lost a vote of confidence 14-4.

Later in the evening D’Amato tendered his resignation to the council, accompanied by an explanation for his action.

It is not yet known what will happen now. The general meeting is scheduled for the end of the month with the new president’s election being the main item on the agenda.

The only candidate is former Valletta FC president Joe Caruana Curran. By Monday evening, the closing date for nominations, there was no other candidate to contest him.

According to an ASA source, no nominations for the post of ASA secretary have been made yet after Monday’s meeting. And no name has emerged even as a probable candidate.
