An action-packed game which was watched by a sizeable crowd at the Luxol Ground. Refeee Eirn Yurtserver had firm control of the proceedings. Following this game the Stripes are on 13 points from five games while Hamrun have only one from four matches.

The first half was a balanced affair and Birkirkara created the first action when Aden Galea served Luke Montebello with a cross in the area who then square-passed the ball to Roderick Taliana but he missed the upright. At the other end, McAllister Clinch handled the ball on the right edge of the area and from the free kick by Luke Grech the ball hit the defensive barrier and was cleared away.

In another Hamrun attack, Luke Grech served Ryan Spiteri with a through ball but McAllister foiled him with a timely tackle.

Bernard Borg missed the upright from outside the area and Antoine Borg served Camenzuli but the latter drove slightly over the bar from the edge of the area.

Later, at the other end, Ayrton Micallef skied the ball with only Stripes keeper Jonathan Martinelli to beat. 

Just before the half time whistle Hamrun defender Kevin Calleja handled the ball just outside the area and from the free kick by Galea the ball thumped against the bar with Hamrun keeper Wayne Zerafa beaten.

Birkirkara went close early in the second half through a Camenzuli freekick which missed the upright by inches.

In a Hamrun attack, Spiteri dribbled past an opponent on the left flank but he drove high from outside the area.

The Stripes soon regained the initiative and Galea drove slightly over the bar from a free kick. Bernard Borg served Montebello with a cross in the area from the right flank and the ball was cleared to a corner from his shot. Galea then served the same player in the area and Zerafa denied him with a diving save.

Later Galea floated a high ball in the area from the right flank and Zerafa misjudged the progression of the ball but there were no takers to apply the killer touch.

In Hamrun’s neaxt attack in the 70th minute they opened the score when substiute Gary Desira dribbled past two opponents on the left flank and scored with a low shot.

Four minutes later Birkirkara equalised when Galea served Montebello with a through ball on the left edge of the area he dribbled past an opponent and scored with a cross-shot from a very acute angle.

Two minutes later they came very close a second goal as the ball missed the upright from a Camenzuli shot after he dribbled past an opponent.

In the fourth minute of added time Birkirkara scored a dramatic winner with a choral move involving three players. Galea served Montebello with a through ball on the left flank who then crossed the ball in the area to substitute Dylan Aquilina who managed to get his head to the ball despite being challenged by Zerafa and a defender.
