I asked a client of mine, having a pint at my bar, to count the number of defaulters issued with a summons for traffic contraventions. These defaulters were listed on 9 pages that appeared on The Malta Independent, last week, 26 November. My good friend had the answer. Well over 10,000 names with their respective contraventions.
I suggest that the Local Councils Associations submit these figures to the Guinness book of records.
The money, if collected, can be spent on a few more court rooms to cater for the demands. One could also wait for an amnesty, which has become the order of the day.
