Competing in a prestigious international competition held in Berkenbos, Belgium for the 7th Michel Wantan Cup, the young and talented gymnasts from Gymstars Gymnastic Club once again made an impressive performance, despite the stiff challenge of the other nations taking part from the Netherlands, England, Belgium, Italy among others.

As a team they showed their class in finishing second also gaining remarkable results in the individual categories. The team was composed of Kirsty Caruana, Nicole Pace and Adreana Zammit who took part in the Category FIG Juniors. The Malta ‘trio’ reached a high level standard gaining an average 47.00 points each, a figure that surpass the MQS’s required to qualify for the Youth Commonwealth Games next year.

In the individual events, Kirsty Caruana again showed her potential, finishing in second place overall and with a flourishing performance managed to gain a gold medal in the floor competition.

Nicole Pace although feeling sick for days, showed courage and determination and still managed to finish in seventh place overall. Adreana Zammit also showed that she is very competitive when finishing ninth.

The young and talented Mia Vickery, left a very good impression and once again gave a solid performance competing in Category FIG Modified, despite meeting formidable opponents. She finished fourth overall.

All these results augur well for the coming international competition to be held at Gymstars on the 11th and12th December with the participation of a class of athletes from England, Wales, Monaco, Isle of Man, Luxembourg and others.
