Jemain Defoe scored twice as Tottenham drew 3-3 with FC Twente and advanced to the knockout phase of the Champions League as winners of Group A.

Peter Wisgerhof scored an own goal with a backpass that was mis-kicked by keeper Sander Boschker to put Tottenham in front after 12 minutes but Denny Landzaat converted a penalty in the 22nd to level for Twente.

Tottenham reclaimed the lead in the 47th through Defoe but Roberto Rosales headed home Theo Janssen's cross to equalize again for Twente in the 56th.

Defoe's second goal three minutes later appeared to have settled the game but Nacer Chadli leveled for Twente five minutes later from a free kick.
