Gudja took an early lead as they opened the score after just 4 minutes thanks to Trevor Thomas who took advantage from a passive Attard defence and scored with a shot from close range.

In the 10th minute, Elvin Gauci of Gudja had a shot which went wide while Attard replied in the 20th minute through an effort from Kurt Zahra which was neutralised by Matthew Xerxen.

In the 30th minute, Gudja missed a good opportunity when Peter Paul Sammut failed to capitalise from close range while a few minutes later it was Trevor Thomas who missed another opportunity from close by. After the change of ends it was Attard who took the initiative as they went close twice through efforts from Kurt Zahra and Andrew Agius who were both denied by Matthew Xerxen.

Attard managed to equalise in the 80th minute thanks to Clive Lanzon who scored directly from a penalty which was awarded for a Dalzier Zammit foul on Jonathan Saliba. Gudja lost a man five minutes later as Emerson Vella was sent off for a double yellow card and they were lucky not lose as Attard hit the cross bar in the 90th minute through a header from Andrew Agius.

Section ‘A’

Mtarfa-Marsaskala 1-1

In a balanced encounter, Mtarfa and Marsaskala shared the spoils with the later going close early on through efforts from Brian Grech and Price Ali Osman while Mtarfa replied in the 20th minute thanks to a personal effort from Arvin Micallef which was neutralised by Renald Attard.

In the 25th minute, Mtarfa had another good opportunity thanks to Jean Paul Ciantar whose shot just missed the upright while Marsaskala went close in the 41st minute through a Matthew Gauci shot which was brilliantly saved by James Borg.

After the break, Mtarfa went close thanks to an effort from Paul Fenech which was stopped by Stephen Saliba. Marsaskala replied in the 72nd minute through a shot from Prince Ali Osman which went wide and through another shot from Malcolm Bugeja which was saved by James Borg.

Marsaskala’s efforts were rewarded in the 76th minute when they scored thanks to a close range header from Prince Ali Osman off a Malcolm Bugeja cross. Mtarfa made a reaction and equalised in the 84th minute thanks to a personal effort from Paul Fenech who dribbled Renald Attard and scored in an empty net.

Sirens-Gharghur 2-2

Sirens managed to obtain a dramatic equaliser. However it was Gharghur who went close early on through a shot from Edmond Lapira which just missed the crossbar. Sirens replied in the 18th minute thanks to a shot from Giovanni Galea which was blocked by James Mercieca.

They were unlucky four minutes later when a shot from Glenn Gatt hit the post and in the 25th minute, when a shot from George Falzon was saved by James Mercieca.

Gharghur reacted in the 30th minute through efforts from Ivan Ebejer and Malcolm Tirchett neutralised by Romeo Schembri. In the 32nd minute, Gharghur opened the score thanks to a close range shot from Malcolm Tirchett who took advantage from a partially saved shot from Romeo Schembri.

After the change of ends Sirens took the initiative however it was Gharghur who doubled the score in the 62nd minute thanks to Neville Arpa who scored directly from a corner kick by Neville Arpa.

Sirens reduced the score two minutes later thanks to Glenn Gatt who netted in from close range and also went close to equaliser in the 68th minute through a Giovanni Galea freekick which was saved by James Mercieca.

Sirens maintained the pressure as they went close again through efforts from George Falzon and Giovanni Galea. They finally managed to equalise in the 93rd minute thanks to a close range shot from Kristian Galea off a Giovanni Galea cross.

Ghaxaq-Marsa 1-1

Ghaxaq were the better side in the first part as they went close early on through an Albert Caruana freekick which just missed. Marsa replied in the 18th minute thanks to a close range shot from Kevin Xerri which was saved by Ludvic Fardell who was again in action in the 32nd minute when he neutralised another shot from Kevin Xerri.

Ghaxaq had a good opportunity in the 35th minute thanks to a personal effort from Bjorn Dalli which was neutralised by Keith Brincat who also saved a Francois Galea shot a few moments later.

After the break Ghaxaq were denied by Keith Brincat who saved a well placed shot from Bjorn Dalli. Ghaxaq maintained the pressure and in the 59th minute they managed to open the score through an angled shot from close range by Bjorn Dalli. Marsa equalised in the 68th minute thanks to a penalty scored by Charlo Debattista which was awarded as a result of a handsball committed by Brandon Bonnici.

In the 90th minute, Steve Buhagiar of Marsa and Elton Dimech of Ghaxaq were both sent off after an argument which ensued between them.
