UEFA Deputy chairman, Jim Boyce, the MFA’s Chief Executive Officer Bjorn Vassallo and Hereford United coaches were the main speakers during the recently held coaches seminar organised by the Pembroke Athleta Football Nursery.
YFA chairman Fr Hilary Tagliaferro opened the seminar delivering a talk on the Nursery coaches’ responsibilities in guiding the children and youths under their care.
This was followed by a presentation by Hereford United Youth Development Manager and FA tutor, Jamie Edwards and assistant William J Perkins who came over to Malta purposely for the seminar. They explained their set-up, philosophy on the subject , their Mission Statement and goals.
In the second part of the seminar, the foreign coaches conducted a practical training session with Pembroke Athleta’s Nursery Under 13 children at the Nursery’s Turf football ground (photo).
An extra training session was also held on the eve of the seminar, this time with the Nursery’s Under 10/11 Group.
At the end, the participants, mainly Pembroke Athleta coaches, put questions to the lecturers after which the seminar was concluded by special guests Jim Boyce, UEFA Deputy Chairman, who thanked the organisers for their work in the Society, and by Bjorn Vassallo, Malta Football Association’s CEO, who praised the Nursery for their organisation of the event and the sterling work being done for its children and Youths.
A reception was held afterwards at the Radisson Hotel, the main sponsors of the event, and where the indoor sessions were also held.
The Nursery Committee thaned the distinguished guests, the foreign coaches and the participants for their very valid contribution, and particularly the Radisson Hotel, without whose sponsorship the event would not have been possible.
