The Intermediate Championships for which only youths (U-23) can participate, took place at the Eden Superbowl recently.
Stephanie Said and Rankin Camilleri are the national champions for this year.
All bowlers played 16 games, then a round robin with the top six, and finally a step ladder where the third placed faced the second placed in one match with the winner having to beat the first seeded player twice.
The top three players were as follows:
Female Division: 3rd place Christabel Grima faced 2nd placed Stephanie Said. Stephanie won the encounter 178-140.
Stephanie then faced first seeded Tiziana Carannante. Again she won both matches 202-180 and 183-145.
Male Division: 3rd place Justin Caruana Scicluna faced Matthew Cossai and won 189-166
Justin then faced Rankin Camilleri and lost first match 190-211. Since Rankin was the first seeded player, one win was enough to crown him champion for the fourth time in a row.
