Malta’s Tony Drago has advanced to the second round of the qualifiers for the German Masters which are being held in Sheffield, England.

In a first round match, he narrowly beat England’s 92-ranked Kuldesh Johal 5-4 thus setting a second round clash with Ian McCulloch, ranked 60. This match is to be played today.

In Tuesday evening’s match, Drago also produced the only century break – a 100 – in the sixth frame.

The finals proper of this inaugural German Masters tournament are to be held in Berlin next February.
