Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali dismissed the possibility of Rome becoming the second Italian city to host a grand prix.

Monza has been the traditional location for the Italian Grand Prix, but in recent years Rome has put itself forward to host a race around the streets of Italy's capital.

“Our position is very clear and leaves no room for interpretation," Domenicali told the Ferrari website yesterday. “Our sport is increasingly expanding the number of countries hosting a grand prix and all the teams are in agreement about that.

“Therefore it is inevitable that it will no longer be possible to have two races in the same nation.”

However, Domenicali added that it is “not the job of the teams” to decide where the races are held.

Spain is the only country to host two grand prix races, the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona and the European in Valencia.

India will become the latest country to host a grand prix in 2011, after South Korea made its debut in 2010.

The United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas is slated to start in 2012 with Russia joining the circuit in 2014.
