I would like to express my gratitude to the Mission Fund for the generous grant it has given to the Galilee Centre for maintenance and repair work and for the servicing of our two cars, four computers and a photocopier.

Galilee Centre − a retreat house run by the Jesuits − is situated 50km south of Addis Ababa in Ethiopia. It has been offering retreats to the religious and priests of the Ethiopia Catholic Church since 1968 and for the last six years has also been used by other Christian Churches. We offer eight-day personally guided retreats and weekend retreats to seminarians in theology, to junior religious and to novices, as well as to young people from different parishes and university students. Many religious and priests are attracted by the hospitality and by the beautiful volcanic lake and mountain view to spend a time of prayer and have an experience of God.

The cost of running this centre is more than we can manage, even when we take into consideration the local contribution of everyone who attends a retreat and the donations of two foreign benefactors. It was for this reason that I appealed for help to the Mission Fund, which responded generously.
