Would Minister Dr Austin Gatt please ensure, before he hangs up his political hat in Parliament, that the 10 tumoli of prime development land at Qawra, which had belonged to Maltacom, and which the same minster had assured the Maltese people that the land in question would return to the Maltese government since it was not included in the contract signed with Tecom Investment, is actually returned, since he was the minister responsible at that time.
Only a few years ago Dr Gatt had said that he was ready to bet (“Naghmel imhatra…”) that all clothing factories will close down within 10 years. Is he ready to bet today that the Qawra land will return to the Maltese government in the foreseeable future, without the government having to give something back to Tecom Investment in return? I bet he won’t!
