Softball: Mellieha Tigers Organise six-team tournament

The second softball tournament, held recently at Tigne, was a huge success for the local team. The six teams, La Loggia, Malta Tigers, Sharks Cernusco, Friuli 81, Milano 1946 and Saronno, were engaged in a three-day tournament, each day consisting of four games each.

On the first day, the first game was Friuli 81 against La Loggia, the latter winning with a score of 7-10.

The second encounter was Malta-Milano, where the Maltese won 15-6. Unfortunately for the Tigers, they lost their next game 3-0 against Saronno. The last game for the day was Cernusco-La Loggia, where La Loggia won once again with a score of 2-10.

On the second day, the first game was won by Friuli 81 against the Tigers, 13-3. Once again, La Loggia won another game this time against Saronno with a score of 8-3. Saronno then lost their next game against Milano, 6-12. Friuli 81 won their second game of the day against Cernusco, with a score of 13-9.

On the final day of the tournament, the Tigers won against Cernusco with a score of 20-2. The second encounter was Saronno-Friuli, where the latter won 7-12, classifying second. La Loggia won their fourth and final game against Milano 10-5, classifying first in the tournament.

The final game for the tournament was Cernusco against Milano, where Milano won with a score of 5-8.

All the teams thanked the local club for their hospitality and generosity and their comments were all pleasant. The Maltese team thanked all those involved in making this tournament possible especially the club’s President Elaine Schembri, the team’s manager, Roberto Andolfi and the team’s captain, Erica Xerri Mallan, and also the tournament sponsors, namely Lo Squero, Andolfi Glass Ideas, Farsons and Hansa Cash and Carry for helping out during this tournament.
