The Malta weightlifting Association has just closed its competition calendar with ‘The Most Improved Challenge Trophy’. As the name clearly shows the aim of this competition is to motivate the athletes to win the honour as the athlete who made the most progress during the year. To create a fair playing field, the competition is divided between two levels.

One level is for experienced athletes who have been on the scene for quite some time, this was won by Rodmar Pulis with a total of 183kilos. The other level which is aimed at newcomers was won by Emmanuel Camilleri.

Pulis faced a real challenge in his category and it was only through sheer persistence that he managed to overtake his closest opponent by one point.

Kirsten Coleiro made his first public appearance in this competition after having been on regular training for the past six months. At 11 years, he has a good technique and made a total of 30 kilos gaining him 80 points.

The presentation of honours for 2010 will take place at Cottonera Sports Complex today.
