The sum of €10,920 was collected by Gowl Ghall-Istrina last week during the All Stars match between a team of Maltese players and a team comprising foreign players playing with local clubs.
The event was organised by Net TV’s Replay team, composed of George Micallef and his brother Christian as well as representatives of the Premier League Clubs Standing Committee and the Youth FA.
The match ended in a 4-0 win for the team composed by Maltese players with Stefan Giglio (2), Christian Caruana and Michael Galea scoring the goals.
Coaches of the Malta side were Paul Zammit and Jesmond Zerafa, while Mark Miller and Todor Raykov were in charge of the foreign players’ team.
Before the ‘big match’, ten local youth nurseries provided those present with some exhibition matches.
Sarah Agius and Ronald Briffa were the presenters that evening, while Enzo Gusman and Thea Garrett provided the entertainment.
Contributing towards the sum collected were the local Premier League clubs and their nurseries, while the MFA and the Youth FA made their own special donation. Moreover, the sum of €2,225 was collected during an auction of Maltese Premier League clubs as well as the jerseys of national team players Andre Schembri and Justin Haber, who play in Hungary with Ferencvaros.
