Malta Independent Friday, 31 December 2010, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

Another visiting Serie B side, Padova, conducting a training camp in Malta this week, will be taking part in another triangular tournament to be played next Sunday, together with Birkirkara and Hamrun Spartans at the Hibs Stadium.

Padova’s visit coincides with the club’s centenary celebrations since its foundation.

Their coach praised the facilities at Hibs Stadium and the fine weather which has permitted them to work hard in view of their next league fixture against Torino. Padova are promotiuon hopefuls and expect a good challenge from the two Maltese teams.

Birkirkara and Hamrun may use this tournament as good practice for the rest of the BOV Premier League which resumes in the first week of January.

Yesterday, Birkirkara revealed that they may sign other foreigners come January, with the possibility of a Maltese player joining the club as well. Defender Carlo Mamo is being rumoured to rejoin the Stripes.

Meanwhile Hamrun Spartans have denied that striker Ian Zammit will be joining them from Valletta.
